The Crumley Archives collection is among the largest non-government archives in South Carolina. It holds over 1,500 cubic feet of records related to Southern and Caribbean Lutheran synods, churches, other organizations and individuals.
Notable documents include:
- records of the General Synod South and United Synod South (1861-1918)
- parish registers from numerous disbanded congregations, late 1700s-2004
- the Southern Seminary Archives, dating from 1832
- the South Carolina Synod Archives, dating from 1824
- the North Carolina Synod Archives, dating from 1811
- the Southeastern Synod Archives and predecessor records such as Salzburger material, dating from the 1730s
- the Florida-Bahamas Synod Archives
- the Mississippi Synod Archives, 1869-1961
- the Tennessee Synod Archives, 1861-1922
- the Region 9 Office Archives, 1988-
- an extensive collection of congregation histories, as well as synod histories
- artifacts and documents from Far Eastern missionary service
- early periodical journals from the General Synod and subsequent bodies
- pastors’ biographical information, as well as records of individual pastors, missionaries, Lutheran families, scholars, and so on
- Lutheran family genealogies
- selected records of the Virginia Synod, Holston Synod, Caribbean Synod, Newberry College, Lenoir Rhyne College, Lowman Home and other Lutheran ministries
- early assembly minutes of most North American Lutheran synods and national bodies
