Professional research assistance

To obtain information from the collections at the Crumley Archives for writing a church or other history, please contact the Archives.

Generally the research we perform is free for Lutheran organizations, churches and Southern Seminarians. There is a modest fee for research that we perform for patrons other than Lutheran organizations and churches; for instance, for genealogists and students.

Advice on church archiving, historical methods, document preservation, and related topics

The Crumley Archives has an experienced, professionally trained archival staff including a part-time archivist, seminary students and longtime archives volunteers. The staff advises churches and others on caring for local archives and provides general assistance on Southern Lutheran historical research. In addition to hosting the Congregational Heritage Conference, the staff will also teach onsite archives workshops for clusters of congregations. The Archives will accept donations of congregation records as well as other Southern Lutheran archives at any time.

On-site research assistance

Researchers are welcome to visit the Crumley Archives and conduct their own research. The Archives is open a variety of hours, Monday-Thursday, and at other times by appointment. Regardless of which day you plan to come, please alert us in advance at 803-461-3234. There is a modest fee for genealogy visits and photocopies.
